    SELECTION PROCESS

    Main examination : Objective Type. General Studies (75), Aptitude (25), General English/Tamil (100) . 3 hours duration
    Qualifying marks : 90 (as per last year’s notification)
    Once the students qualify the written exam, they are called for certificate verification and then called for allotment based on their ranks.

    SYLLABUS

    PART-A

    o Translation Paper: Translation of passages in English into Tamil and Tamil into English. The passages will be from (1) Depositions, (2) Judgements, and (3) Documents.

    o Law Paper-1: The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908; The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973; The Indian Evidence Act, 1872; Principles of pleading and the Constitution of India.

    o Law Paper-2: Framing of issues and Writing of Judgements in Civil Cases.

    o Law Paper-3: Framing of charges and Writing of Judgements in Criminal Cases.

    o Interview: The candidate's General Knowledge and Knowledge of law, grasp of Procedural Laws and Principles of Law and his suitability for appointment as Civil Judge shall be tested.
